Choosing the right type of faucet for your home

Faucets are found everywhere around the house. You can find a few in the kitchen, perhaps a couple in the yard and you will obviously find anywhere between two and six in the bathroom (the hot and cold bathroom sink, tub and shower faucets). Sometimes, you might even find a seventh faucet on the bathroom wall for pails or basins.

With so many faucets at home, especially in the bathroom, it’s important to understand the different types of designs and models available to choose from. This will help you to save time by narrowing down your search.

Faucets are primarily divided into three categories, namely:

• Single handle: As the name implies, this design features just one handle which is the most common type used. If your sink has a single hole, this is the faucet for you.

• Centerset: If your sink has more than one hole, and the distance between each hole is no wider than four inches, you need a centerset model. The design features two handles between a central faucet. This gives users the convenience of switching between cold and hot water from a single faucet head. It’s perfect for sinks that are not large enough to accommodate widespread faucets.

• Widespread: This is the BMW of faucets, and is meant for extra-large sinks with multiple holes that can go up to 16 inches apart. They sometimes come with deckplates for superior presentation.

Obviously, each type of faucets is engineered in different designs and shapes to meet different functions in the bathroom. They also feature different finishes such as brushed nickel and polished chrome. But you know what you’re looking for now, and faucets no longer intimidate you. So browse around our webpage to find the best model for your sink.
